“The Nature of Journalism has Changed”: UK Universities are Making a PR Pivot


Ronn Torossian, CEO, 5WPR  Britain’s University of Salford has announced the launch of its new Bachelor of Arts degree: journalism with public relations, promising to churn out graduates “who are skilled in a wide range of areas.” The course is based at the university’s MediaCityUK campus, home also to the offices of British media giants BBC, ITV Studios and Peel Media.  The first students to join the course began their studies this month.  According to Paul Broster, director of journalism, politics and contemporary history at the university, “the nature of journalism has changed, with those starting in the profession expected…
